How to Learn Hypnosis

Often I get asked, “How long does it take to learn hypnosis?” Well, like most things, “that depends.” When one asks how long does it take to learn hypnosis, do they mean that they just want to be able to hypnotize someone? Or do they want to learn how to help others using hypnosis? Do they just want to learn hypnosis, or do they want to master it?

To learn hypnosis does not take very long at all if all you want to do is to be able to hypnotize someone. Given that you have a willing “subject” as they say, and you can read, you can simply read a hypnotic induction, and your subject will go into hypnosis. And “whalla!” you have learned how to hypnotize someone. Most people set out to accomplish more when they tell me that they want to learn hypnosis.

When I first became interested in hypnosis that was all I wanted to do, learn hypnosis, and be able to hypnotize someone. It was years later that I wanted to become a certified hypnotherapist and begin helping people. Now I am a certified hypnotherapy instructor, and I can tell you that even serious students can learn hypnosis, and become quite accomplished in using a number of hypnotic inductions. For example if you were enrolled in one of my hypnosis training courses, by the time you have completed your second day of our NGH Approved Hypnotherapy Certification Course, you will have learned how to hypnotize your classmates and will practice doing so. It is really quite a bit of fun. You will learn hypnosis and by the end of the 10-day program, you will probably wind up hypnotizing everyone in class using a number of hypnotic inductions, including rapid and instant inductions.

So, if you have read this far then you probably want to really learn hypnosis in depth. When you want to learn hypnosis you should ask yourself, should I…

The answer is you should learn hypnosis from all of the above! Anyone who really wants to learn hypnosis and then master it should read books, watch videos and take live training courses from a master in the profession.

Learn Hypnosis from a Live Training Program

Like I wrote above, learn hypnosis from a live trainer if you can. The best way to learn hypnosis is to seek out the best hypnosis training instructor that you can find. I suggest that you visit online communities and special interest groups related to hypnosis, and ask around. Tell the group members that you want to learn hypnosis, or want to become a hypnotherapist and see who they recommend. I recommend that you visit our webpage which makes some suggestions for selecting a hypnosis school, so that you can have some ideas of what to look for in a trainer, school or training program.

Learn Hypnosis from a Video Training Program

Video training courses are a great way to supplement the live training that you have taken. If you cannot learn hypnosis from a live trainer, then video training is the next best thing. It is better to learn hypnosis from a video program instead of from a book or text on a webpage, because often a picture, especially a moving picture can show you what now written description can't!

The very best way to learn hypnosis is to read up on the subject. Do some research, and see if you can locate a respected trainer near you. Then attend the course. I recommend that you attend a course by an instructor that also provides you will audio and video hypnosis training materials that will supplement what you learned in the course. For example, most of our students, in addition to attending the live course, make sure that they get the video version of the course so that they can take it home and review the material. I also have video, audio and written materials for specialized topics in the profession of hypnosis. When you learn hypnosis in one of our courses, you can also lean hypnotherapy techniques for helping people stop smoking, lose weight, overcome fears, increase motivation, and much more.

Learn Hypnosis from a Book

Few serious hypnotists or hypnotherapists ever limited their hypnosis training to only what they can read on the subject, at least not in recent years. Even though there are probably hundreds of books on how to learn hypnosis, I recommend that you use them as a supplement to attending a live hypnosis training course. It is only through a live course that you can learn hypnosis in an environment where you can get your questions answered, and a capable instructor can point out errors in technique that you would not have identified and corrected on your own. Besides, in a class you will probably have a number of people to hypnotize. When you want to really learn hypnosis and hypnotherapy you simply cannot do better than a live hypnosis training program.

Learn Hypnosis on the Internet

Learning hypnosis is now easier than ever! You can learn hypnosis, including the inductions, and other techniques just by turning on your computer and going on the Internet! But of course you know that and that is why you are visiting our website. We invite you to take a look at the free hypnosis resources including free hypnotherapy scripts, free hypnotherapy articles, Q&A for hypnotherapists, hypnosis in the movies, and hypnosis news.

So, How Long Does it Take to Learn Hypnosis?

It takes no time at all to learn hypnosis, if all you really want to do is hypnotize a “willing subject” but as you know it can go much farther than that. In 10 days, you can learn just about everything you need to know to be a good hypnotherapist! But that will only be knowledge. Then the real work starts! One must apply what she has learned in a course, and begin hypnotizing and working with real clients with real world issues. At our center we have found that after a few months and seeing as little as 25 clients, in supervised conditions, a hypnotherapist who uses 5-PATH™ can become quite skilled. After seeing about 100 clients, a hypnotherapist’s skill and confidence becomes very strong, and is able to handle a broad range of issues. See a 1,000 clients, using an advanced hypnotherapeutic system like 5-PATH™ and you become a master, a real asset to the profession.

So, if you want to learn hypnosis, it is a very short and simple process. It can be done in a few days. But if you want to be a master hypnotherapist, it will take a good while longer, and the learning process never really stops. I believe that I learn something new from every session I conduct.
