Web Video Conferencing and You: A Guide
version 1.2

Welcome! This guide is here to help you access and use our online conferencing rooms. It's really quite simple, but there are one or two things that can easily be overlooked that ought not be.

Accessing the Conference Room

The first thing that needs to happen is for you to download the conference room, which is available through the following link:

After you've clicked on the link, you'll be prompted to either Save or Run the program. To minimize things that may go wrong in the future, select the Save option and be sure to remember where you saved it so that you can find it once you've downloaded it. When you've completed the install of the room, an interestingly worded box will pop up:

Log-in box

Notice the "I want to login as a moderator..." bar and how it currently says "Yes." Normally you'd think that this means you are currently signing in as a moderator, however this is not the case. Since you won't be signing in as a moderator, just click "OK" in the window after entering your name where it says Your Name Here. Shortly after that, the following box will appear:

Log-in box with Moderator

The "Please enter password:" box has shown up! This is where you will put the password that we have sent out to you.

Using the Conference Rooms

Now would be a good time for me to show you around the main window, so here it is:

Conference Software Window
(Note that main window content may vary)

I've highlighted a few different things in this window in different colors: red and blue. The red box is around the inbound level control. The slider will make the conference room louder as you slide it to the right, and softer as you slide it to the left. The blue box is around the outbound level control (also known as the microphone level). The slider will control how loud you are to everyone else.

Let's take some time to get familiar with the audio controller box, which is located in the lower left-hand corner of the main window and looks a little something like this:

Audio Controller Box

The button that says "Talk Now" (highlighted in red) is pretty simple in form and function. Holding down this button (by either clicking it with your mouse or holding down the F12 key) will let you talk. Only one person can be talking at a time, so this whole contraption resembles a walkie-talkie as far as functionality goes.
